The catalogue work that a page count leaves out
A catalogue can contain fifty pages and still require thousands of individual decisions. Each page may have several variants, documents and language placements. Counting pages describes the visible container; it does not measure the work required to make its facts dependable.
Product preparation can determine the schedule
If item codes are reused, units are missing or document versions disagree, someone must resolve them. A developer can identify inconsistencies and build tools to assist review, but cannot infer the technical answer from whichever spreadsheet was received last.
Select a representative product family before estimating the whole range. Record how many source decisions are needed and who makes them. A clean sample chosen only because it is easy can understate the work in the rest of the catalogue.
Documents need more than a download button
A file needs an approved purpose, an identifiable relationship to the product and permission for the intended audience. Historical material may need a different explanation from current sales information. Large migrations should account for broken links and duplicate filenames as well as file transfer.
Polish and English documents can require separate review. The same technical correction may affect a table, a sentence and a diagram. Agree the owner of each placement and whether that review is included in the proposed work.
Integration adds operational work
Connecting a catalogue to an internal tool requires supported access, field meanings and a route for records that cannot be accepted. One successful transfer does not establish how staff will handle an unknown item or a changed quantity after review begins.
External providers may have subscription costs or approval requirements. Confirm those with the selected service rather than treating them as a developer's fixed promise. A manual first-stage exchange can sometimes clarify the need before a larger connection is justified.
Transition and maintenance have their own costs
Editors may continue changing the current site while the replacement is built. Capturing those late changes, checking old links and rehearsing maintenance take time. The business also needs account ownership, recovery arrangements and continuing review duties.
These are not reasons to avoid development. They are reasons to compare proposals by the work included. The pricing and scope guide helps turn the unknowns into explicit responsibilities, while project planning provides a practical preparation pack.
